Muir Macdonald has been appointed Chair of the UK Naval Engineering, Science & Technology (UKNEST) is succession to Tony Graham, who has completed his term in office.
Muir started his career in the Ministry of Defence, joining the Royal Corps of Naval Constructors in 1975. After a private sector secondment to BMT, Muir returned to the MoD as the Director General responsible for the procurement and in-service support of the RAF’s large fixed-wing aircraft. Muir returned to BMT in 2008 where he became the Managing Director of BMT Defence Services, the largest operating subsidiary within the BMT Group of international engineering, science and technology companies.
Muir has a wealth of experience across the Naval Engineering sector in which he is widely respected. He inherits a healthy series of initiatives targeted at developing the technical capabilities of a sector that has a significant forward portfolio of programmes, both in the UK and overseas. His knowledge and passion for developing people will be important factors for the success of UKNEST into the future.
